It's September 13, 2007 and the spotlight is
on our Senior Citizens today. There is no denying that these
Seniors came to play games, win some medals, have a terrific
lunch , and play bingo.
Everyone was welcomed to the third annual
North Whitehall Township Senior Day. The weather was just
magnificent and it really showed by 275 seniors arriving for
their special "free" day. The event was held at the Schnecksville
Fire Company (rear pavilion) on Thursday, September 13, 2007.
Everything for the day was free to all Seniors (60+) who attended.
We had outdoor games before lunch, awards right after lunch,
and then bingo in the afternoon with lots of prizes. This
event is sponsored by North Whitehall Township and monetary
donations from local businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley.
We set this day aside to celebrate and
honor the many contributions our local Seniors have made to
the community over the years. As we continue our yearly event,
our major emphasis is on friendly competition, relaxed environment,
delicious food, wholesome spirit, and community involvement.
Walking around and watching the Seniors
laughing and having fun while they were playing bean bags
or tossing the football or many of the other games that were
available that day, it made us feel like we did our job. We
also had some serious competitors out there who were looking
for their first place medals.
Our next Senior Day will be September
11, 2008, at the Schnecksville Fire Company again, so Seniors,
mark your calendars. As the Seniors were leaving, they were
telling us encouraging words, "we'll see you next year".
Thanks to everyone who volunteered that
day and to the many businesses for your continued support.
