A hot mix
paving application will
be used on Rising Sun Rd. (from Devonshire Ct. to Rt. 145),
a portion of Candlewycke Dr., and Oakwood Ln. Paving of Washington
St. is also tentatively scheduled.
Carriage
Path Drive (between Fairland Dr. & Elmhurst Dr.), Elmhurst
Drive, Walnut Drive, Fells Creek Road, Green Hill Circle,
Valley Green Drive, Scott Road and Barry Road will receive
a process called Micro-surfacing,
a thin restorative process that creates a stable surface on
an existing roadway. This protective coating is a warm
mix of small stones, oil, Portland cement and water. Its benefits
include increased skid resistance and the ability to be driven
on within an hour of application.
Several
roads will be preserved using a process called bituminous
seal coat. This process
makes the road stronger and extends the life of a road at
a fraction of the cost of regular paving.
Roads
involved in this process include: Coplay Creek Road (between
Levans and Sand Spring Roads), Coplay Creek Court, Hill Street,
Peach Bottom Road, Mulberry Street, Sparrow Lane, Union Avenue,
Mallard Road, Mildreds Way, Newhards Place, Twin Hill Drive
and Kovalchik Drive.
The Public
Works Department and paving contractors will do everything
possible to minimize the inconvenience to homeowners. Emergency
services, post offices and waste haulers will be notified
as paving schedules become known.
